Example of Course Work:
- During the course, small groups were designated, and each team was responsible for selecting an application or website to design and to plan the project. My team decided to create Vernacular, an application designed to translate incoming text messages received by the user to Spanish and to display the translation within the messaging board. I was personally responsible for the completion of Milestone 1, a report documenting the requirements analysis of our application. View the milestone document HERE.
Reflection on this course:
- Personally, I enjoyed this course because personal success depended on the extent to which each student was willing to contribute to the success of his/her team. Through participation in the group project, I was able to gain an understanding of a basic software development life cycle through practice, which is my preferred method of learning. Also, information that was a part of but not paramount to the overall course was presented to the students but not required material for the exams. Therefore, we were given many opportunities to expand our knowledge of the SDLC and other bits of information beyond what was required of the course.
